A week later, everything changed. While making Emma’s school lunch, my phone rang. It was my mother, panicked and insistent that I turn on the television immediately.
When I did, I froze. The elderly couple I had helped were sitting in a local news studio, sharing their story. They spoke about being stranded in the cold, afraid they might be stuck there for hours, and how a stranger stopped to help when no one else did.
They even had a short video and photo—taken by their granddaughter—showing me changing the tire in the snow. I was stunned. I hadn’t even realized they were recording.
